Is there a free plan or trial?

While DocuChat doesn't offer a permanently free plan, we do provide a 14-day free trial. During this trial period, you can access all the features available in our Pro plan.

Can I modify my DocuChat subscription after I have started using it?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time. If you upgrade, you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing cycle. If you downgrade, you will be charged the new amount at the start of the next billing cycle.

What are the monthly question credits and limits?

We use a dynamic credit-based system that calculates costs based on actual token usage. Each question's cost depends on:

  • Input tokens: Your question, system prompts, and conversation history
  • Output tokens: The AI's response length

For example, a short question to GPT-4o mini might cost 1-2 credits, while a complex question to GPT-5 could cost 4-9 credits. This ensures you only pay for what you actually use. Your credits reset at the start of each billing cycle, and you can monitor your usage in your account dashboard.

What are the monthly page processing limits?

We use a page-based system to track your monthly usage when processing your source documents. Each time a document is processed, it uses up a number of pages based on the number of characters in the document. We consider 1 page to be 3,000 characters. For instance, if you upload a document with 6,000 characters, it will use up 2 pages. Your page usage is reset at the start of each billing cycle. And you can always check your page usage in your account dashboard.

Do I need to provide my OpenAI API key?

No, you don't. We manage all interactions with OpenAI or other AI model providers using our own API keys.

Are there any additional fees or costs besides the subscription fee?

No, there are no additional fees or costs beyond the subscription fee. We prioritize transparency in our pricing, and what you see is what you pay.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a 14-day money back guarantee starting from the date of your first subscription purchase. If you are not satisfied with the service within this period, simply contact us at hi@docuchat.io and we will refund your payment.

How do I get longer responses from my chatbot?

To make the bot respond at length, users must set the answer length to "Long" in the chatbot settings to ensure the instruction is combined with extra credits provided to the LLM. It is not sufficient to give custom instructions requesting longer answers - the answer length setting directly controls the maximum number of tokens the AI can generate for each response.

This setting applies regardless of the model used (GPT-4o, GPT-5, etc.) and ensures consistent response length control across all AI models.
