Chatbot Limits

Understand the chatbot limits and quotas in DocuChat to effectively manage your usage across different subscription plans.

Number of Chatbots

The number of chatbots you can create depends on your subscription plan:

  • Essential Plan: Up to 3 chatbots
  • Pro Plan: Unlimited chatbots
  • Enterprise Plan: Unlimited chatbots

Question Credits

Every question you ask your chatbot costs you a certain number of credits based on actual token usage. The system calculates credits dynamically based on the number of tokens used in your conversation, providing more accurate and fair pricing.

Estimated Credits per Question

ModelCredits/Question
GPT-54-9
GPT-5 Mini2-4
GPT-5 Nano1-2
GPT-4o mini1-3
GPT-4o6-12
GPT-4 Turbo15-25
Mistral Large 24-8
Claude 3 Haiku1-2
Claude 3.5 Sonnet6-12
Llama 3.11-2
Credits are calculated based on actual token usage, so shorter questions and responses cost fewer credits. Question credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle. You can monitor your usage in Settings > Plan & Usage.

Response Length Control

To get longer responses from your chatbot, you must set the Answer Length to "Long" in your chatbot settings. This setting directly controls the maximum number of tokens the AI can generate for each response.

Answer Length Options:

  • Short: Up to 500 tokens (~125 words, 1 paragraph)
  • Medium: Up to 1,000 tokens (~250 words, 2 paragraphs)
  • Long: Up to 2,000 tokens (~500 words, 3-4 paragraphs)
Important: Custom instructions requesting longer answers are not sufficient. The answer length setting is a hard limit that overrides any text-based instructions. To get detailed, comprehensive responses, always set the answer length to "Long".

This setting applies to all AI models (GPT-4o, GPT-5, etc.) and ensures consistent response length control across your chatbots.
